Grade 6 students have been working on the following skills:

  • Chords may be used to accompany melody

  • Learning about form in music and how to read it

  • Music has different styles

  • The human voice has different timbral qualities

  • The lyrics (text) and meaning of a song may be enhanced by the vocal interpretation as well as by its instrumental accompaniment

  • Sing songs written in a variety of scales

  • Develop a quality repertoire of songs

  • In-tune part singing

  • Learning basic chords and rhythms on Ukulele to accompany songs. This will be extended to plucking melodic patterns as well.
