Grade 4/5 students will be working on the following skills using the recorder as a tool to guide learning:

  • Learning sixteenth notes, dotted note patterns, and syncopation

  • Barlines and measures

  • Continue to read and play rhythm and melody patterns

  • Meter changes can occur within a piece of music

  • Using recorders to develop tone and ability to read music

  • Recognize time signatures related to repertoire

  • Develop skill in writing rhythm patterns
